This has probably been Discussed! It also varies or Depend on situation and Where you are at. How do most of you carry your Notebooks?

I would say most carry there Notebook bare in the House or Corporate/Office location.

How many carry there Notebook outside without it's protection (Sleeve/Case) and why?

I never carry my notebook outside without at least the sleeve. It is to easy to trip do to anything. Better safe than sorry! I believe it's to easy to have a tip/bumb and there she goes.

I do not care what manufacturer or Series (except maybe a Tuffbook)! If it falls from a good height and hit concrete, it is going to be damage (Drive or Cosmetics)

I plan to use a sleeve when transporting it, the sleeve slipped into my canvas book bar. But it's hard finding one that fits well, especially since many brick-and-mortar stores only carry the same couple of brands, and most all for the ubiquitous 15.4" models. What about the 14.1" widescreens?

I'm looking for a sleeve for my R61 (14.1" widescreen) with the 6-cell battery which sticks out the back about an inch or so. The 14" Belkin sleeve would fit perfect without the battery, but is too damn tight with the larger capacity 6- and 7-cell batteries. I fear the 15.4" Belkins will be too large.

Any suggestions for a minimalist neoprene sleeve for the 14.1" R61 with the humpback batteries?

I use a neoprene sleeve and a North Face Hot Shot back pack that has a padded notebook area. I try to reduce the shock, especially since I bike with it all the time.

it's not a good idea to have a sleeve that fits perfectly tight. a little bit loose would be ideal. mine in use: micro-fiber hand-made sleeve, Case Logic reversible neoprene sleeve, 15" Kenneth Cole Messenger Bag.

I use the Belkin sleeve with my R61 14" WXGA. It fits just right. One of the reason why I got the 4 cell battery instead of 6+ cell. I have an extra battery but I carry it separately.

For my X60s, I use a neoprene like zip up case that fits it almost perfectly. I purchased it at a local japanese '2 dollar store' called Daiso. I will use this method of protection when I want to travel light with just the notebook.

If I have to travel with other goodies or on a business trip, I will put the zip up case into a Victorinox backpack built for notebook transport. Basically, this is double the protection and prevents the x60s from sloshing around in the larger padded holding area of the backpack.

My future plans for my upcoming T61 will be similar: zip up/slip case when I want to walk around with just the notebook.

Since the T61 is larger than my X60s, I will only use the Victorinox backpack's built in top loading laptop sleeve.

Around the office, no protection used.

i swear by my shinza (zeroshock III) sleeve. its fits my R61 with 6cell battery perfectly. IMO best sleeve on the market. soft padded interior but can actually take a hit. i even use the sleeve when i use my laptop on soft surfaced. best $35 is spent.

yeah, the 14.1 inch fits great. it requires a little stretching but fits well. the only problem really is the height. i left mine on while i was away for the weekend and now it fits like a glove. it makes any backpack or bag into a laptop backpack.

Targus has a great Notebook/Work/Carry Bag. It comes with a great removal Sleeve in the Notebook storage center. That center area has Shock cushions.

They also have great Backpacks (geared for Notebook carry)!!

    Staple, Bestbuy, circuitcity, etc.

I go commando with mine almost everywhere. Because if I ever tripped, my massive six-pack would absorb all the impact and leave the Thinkpad unscathed.

In a more serious sense, bare within any room, bag if walking a farther distance (especially outside).
