I've combed over most of the laptop brands and I've decided that the Lenovo Thinkpad would be my first choice for purchase (system specs and aesthetic considered).

My only problem is deciding which model and specs to go with. I plan on using business applications such as SQL & Sharepoint on a regular basis. Im also looking to install a few of the adobe creative suite applications. There will also be regular internet browsing, email, etc.

Which model would be best for my needs and what add on's would you suggest getting? or am i barking up the wrong tree with Lenovo?

    ^^^ You meant 15" right? :D

I would recommend the T520. Core i5-i7, Optimus graphics (integrated and discrete working together), 1920x1080 resolution, all in a relatively thin traditonal Thinkpad package. Pricing ranges a bit with all of those extras though (ie >$1000).

There of course is the Edge series (E520), but it only offers a 1366x768 display (on a 15.6" screen!), so I wouldn't recommend it.

The L-series (L520) offers a 1600x900 display option, and sits in the middle of the Edge and T-series in terms of pricing.

With all those features, a W520 is probably cheaper if you are going for a quad core.

For the price range I can recommend the E520 or the T520 when they have a good sale, but if you throw on the essentials webcam, BT, upgrade to 3rd gen i5, and fingerprint reader, the E520 would fit perfectly into your budget. For the T520 it would stretch it a bit, but on a day of sales and coupon you could get a T520 in that price range.

True, but if you don't need all of the latest bells-and-whistles, you can always look into the Lenovo Outlet or buy used. Regular precaution advised of course. The last gen models are T510, W510, BTW.

As well, Lenovo is the best brand of all others imo, especially Thinkpad support. I called in one time at midnight for a new keyboard and an American, no outsourced people answered. Someone from the Atlanta location. They are #1 in my book for reliability and product quality.

Thanks for the input very helpful...im seeing that im probably going to have to go over the $850 mark....

If I were to go to the 14" (got it right this time .lol.) i would probably stay around the same model correct (T420 or T420i)?

and as far as the Edge, im not too thrilled about the look so ill probably stay away from the model
