    Hello,

I'm fairly new to the boards. I recently purchased my first laptop, the t510. I have noticed on 2 occasions, about a month apart where the screen flickered and received the nvidia display driver message above. On the first occasion, I was running Google Earth. On the second occasion, I was playing a demo of a game. The power settings were on low in both instances. Is the problem that the video card was not receiving enough power or am I looking at imminent hardware failure. I have the 3 year depot warranty so I can certainly send it in for repair if necessary but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a power setting.
Also, the temps on the laptop are between 67 C and 75 C in normal use. I performed some stress tests with the ThinkVantage Diagostics tools and they all passed. Thanks again.
Any information you could provide would be much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Chad

Also, the last time it did it, the screen went black and I had to reboot.

Typical nvidia. Their drivers in my experience have always had instability or some other problems. Try updating your driver and see if that helps. You don't need to send it in, it's just a very typical driver problem.

So this isn't from overheating? I just installed Core Temp where I could monitor it during use but sometimes it would seem to get hot when playing movies, games, etc.

Nvidia usually runs significantly warmer than other graphics chips. That's been the case for some time. Since you're running between 67 and 75C, that's well within norms, even if it's a tad warm. Nothing to worry about. But your driver issue is a very common problem with Nvidia, I've also had it happen to me several times myself. Nothing to do but hope the next driver revision corrects it, or going back to an older driver.

And I'll tell you, the T510 is a very nice system, and has a good cooling system. You're well within normal temps, the temps you're getting is actually kind of cool for nvidia. I just want to reassure you that you have nothing to worry about. :)

Thank you for the reassurance! I didn't want to part from my t510!
