Hi, today I received my OCZ Nocti 60GB msata, I quickly installed it, and off I went with the Windows install (fresh install) However, when it finished the installation, I used Thinkvantage update to update all the drivers, and get the latest thinkpad software, when it had installed it all, I went to reboot, and it hang at the windows boot logo, the little harddrive LED was constantly on, not blinking, and after a minute or so it BSOD'ed, I thought it was a bad driver install, so I decided to reinstall windows again, and manually chose what drivers to install, so it couldn't interfere with the sata controller, I then updated to the newest Intel RST firmware, and checked the SSD firmware, it was the newest already (v2.15) And I still get BSOD's, I have now read that this isn't uncommon, however I see some guys with the drive working perfectly... Do anyone know what to do? I would have gotten a intel 310 instead, however I got this drive fairly cheap...
Regards
Jacob

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
RMA it and buy that 310?
This is why I typically tell people to avoid OCZ; I think it's somewhat accepted now that there are more problems with OCZ than with others... -
But problems like these just shouldn't happen
Well lesson learned, I will never buy a OCZ SSD again, I still have my X25-M G2 running in my desktop PC, and it has been running perfect for 2 years now...

What a coincidence, I just installed the 120GB Nocti in my new X220T. I went the UEFI route. Like you pointed out, it kept hanging left and right with the HD LED lit, but it never BSOD on me, this was just running the regular Intel AHCI driver. Then I installed the latest RST, thought it had fixed the problem at first as it went through the WEI test with no problem (7.7), but it was hanging with the solid HD LED again after it woke from sleep. Then I applied the additional registry entries below and it's been running great since, no more hanging.
I bought the Nocti from Amazon since it's 179 after a 20 rebate. Guess what, the Intel 310 80GB is in my quick pick right now for $165 LOL. I'd probably still gone with the Nocti. I have all Sandforce drives in here, some took a bit of work before working reliably, but once I got there it's been rock solid.
PS I did not install the Thinkvantage or any of that auto update software. I manually grabbed all the drivers from Lenovo.
Copy and paste the additional registry entries here. -
Just tried the registry fix, however I still have hangs... I really hope that this can be fixed, as a RMA would be a pita right now... BTW what BIOS are you running? -

I've had nothing but countless problems with my 2 OCZ Vertex drives on my previous Thinkpads (W500 and T400).
With all the bad (and honest!) feedback on these boards about OCZ drives and their multiple issues, I'm rather amazed as to why people still buy their drives -c'mon guys, get an Intel/Samsung and go to sleep knowing your data is safe! -
I have OCZ drives in all my desktops and I've had probably six all told. None has given me any trouble other than the original Core drive, which had stutter issues.

It's the luck of the draw with OCZ drives, the incentive for OCZ drives tends to be price but whether you find the user experience to be value for money is another thing. Personally I used 2 OCZ drives (Vertex II 32nm and Agility 3) and similar to ZaZ I hadn't come across any reliability issues with them as yet. Ironically the only SSD's that gave me some trouble are Corsair drives and funnily enough, my Intel 510...

Other than the warm boot delay issue, what issues have you seen with the Intel Series 510? I have mine in the T420 and it behaves exactly like the W520. -
Did you verify that it did apply? When I copied and pasted into notepad, for some reason the quotes "xxxxx" saved as a different character. When I doubled clicked the .reg file it asked the usual are you sure I clicked yes but it didn't do a thing. Went into the registry to look and there was nothing there.
It is absolutely performing beautifully for me now. My drive came with 2.15, and I updated my X220T to 1.26. -
How can I check?
-
Check your registry to make sure you have these entries. You really only need the entries for port 2, see my screen capture.
-
You know what, that might have done the trick, it had made a "serv?ices" folder, because of the error in the registry file, I will now let it be turned off for some time, and see if it did the trick... for some reason it is worse with a cold boot...

Or not, it still hangs
