I have a reoccurring issue with my T61P. Every now and then I will bring up my right click menu and then when I click on an option the highlighted option with stay on the screen even after the right-click-menu has shut.

Do you have the latest graphics drivers for your T61p?

I'd probably get drivers from nVidia, rather than Lenovo, they'll be more up-to-date.

Looks like it isn't, I am updating right now. I have updated the driver many times before and it still has persisted through those also though.

*In the install, the screen went black and when it came back up the stuck menu item was removed, hopefully it stays that way but I am highly doubtful. If it comes up again I will update.

Yep, it already came back. Any other suggestions?

No guarantees, but Microsoft has a DirectX runtime update from June 2010. You could install that and see if it changes anything.

I'm shooting in the dark here --it sounds like a screen refresh issue. When the issue happens, have you ever tried pressing F5 to refresh the screen and seen if the menu disappears like it should?

Otherwise...the next solution is to reinstal.
