Can this laptop cause you to be sterile if you put it on your lap for too long?

Couldn't one theoretically say the same for any laptop?

Maybe. I thought that since this laptop has a pretty good cooling system, then perhaps you wouldn't go sterile after setting it on your lap for so long.

I have heard this argument about laptops as well, not specifically regarding the T61p. Don't know the answer, but you shouldn't be using the laptop on your lap without some kind of stand, pad etc. One because it keeps the machine off your body and two, it allows for proper cooling on the machine. Running the laptop on any soft surface, including your body, is bad for the machine due to possible lack of cooling.

I think the worse that could happen would be temporary sterility. I wouldn't worry about any long term affects.

There are three things that a laptop can do that might lead to being sterile.
    1. Heat
    2. Radiation
    3. Pressure

Any laptop running wireless is going to have pretty much same effects from radiation, and any laptop weighing the same will apply the same pressure. That only leaves heat which can be an issue only because they are designed to um… hang since body temperature is too hot. Thus if you have your laptop running hot for a long time you might have some issues. My guess is that it shouldn’t be a big deal unless you’re already having other issues.

According to a reproductive endocrinologists, the heat causes reduced sperm production... lower counts=reduced fertility...

Laptops (directly on lap) and hot tubs are both known to do this, even if only the legs were heated.

IIRC, it takes about 2 weeks for the counts to come back up

there's so many technological things that cause sterility that we should just give it up and outsource breeding.
