Does anyone keep their ThinkPads on all the time, is it bad for the battery? Do you notice any system performance degradation (aside from the inescapable Windows memory leakage :) )

I've often had it over 24 hours straight. Sometimes a couple of days. Not bad for the battery, no performance degradation.

If you keep it running 24/7, PLEASE PLEASE clean out the dust bunnies from the heatsink and fan. You end up sucking in a lot more dust, and you can run into cooling issues down the road which might make your CPU start throttling to save itself. Best would be to use a shopvac from the outside, or from the inside an air gun.

Generally its a bad idea to use an airgun from the outside of the laptop because you will just launch the dust everywhere inside the unit, and not actually clean anything.

On a Thinkpad, not really, although you have to be a bit careful.

When I did it the first time I was not careful and actually managed to break my Fn key by applying pressure to it diagonally.

Follow the instructions and don't apply too much force.

I run mine 24/7, except when it's in the laptop bag. It's my only working computer, so I kinda need it on all the time ;)
