OK, how serious is this screen issue with the T61. I've read all of the previous posts, and am not sure how serious to take the warnings. Bottom line, real problem or just nitpicking? I'm looking at the 14.1 inch WXGA+ model. Your opinion will impact whether I purchase or not! Thanks.

What warnings are you referring to..? I think the bottom line is do you prefer matte screens over glossy. And also the screen is a bit dim at first, but you'll quickly get used to it (I only use half brightness, it's easier on the eyes.) I have no sparkles on mine. Go to your local Best Buy or something to check out their lenovo screens and see if you like them.

my t61p 15.4 wsxga+ screen is fine. It was a little bluish on receipt but after a simple tweak in color management using a color profile posted elsewhere on this forum, it's very acceptable to me.

my t61's screen is very fine. Plenty bright for average use (not gaming nor photo/video work). Of course I haven't seen every screen, but I'm tempted to say that it's more nitpicking than real concern. HTH!

I seriously doubt that statement. Do you know how many posts there are on ThinkPad screen quality?

I think it will depend on how picky you are. If you're the sort person who's overly fussy these things it'll probably probably bother you. Picky people like that tend come on here making overly dramatic statements about screen quality. The problem with this is there's no balance to it. The vast majority of customers are happy campers, but they don't come here and post. So a person like yourself comes along and reads all these negative posts, perceiving a problem where none exists. This is not to say that everythings perfect either. It's really one of the problems with boards like this.

Perhaps if this is an issue for you, you may wish to consider purchasing a notebook somewhere with a liberal return policy. That way if you don't like it you can send it back. It will probably cost you more.
