I embarrassed to say that I've never succeeded in rolling the adapter cable in a manner that seems logic. what is the best way to protect the cable, and how to close the Velcro? if anyone have an image of how this is to be done, I'll be grateful. I've seen many experienced users struggle with this and can't fund the perfect way.

You talking outlet- or adapter side?

Hahaha, we all use ThinkPads at work and I've seen so many different ways of doing this. I usally start with the computer cord, move the velcro to about 3 inches away from the brick end (so it sits at the middle of the adapter), hold the loop out, and then wind the computer cord lengthwise around the brick, all on one side of the outlet plug.
Then I wind the AC cord lengthwise around the brick on the other side of the outlet plug.
Then I wrap the velcro around the brick and both coils that are wound lengthwise around it.
Stays pretty neat. -
For me there are two ways to do it:
1) outlet plug separate from the ac adapter
have the outlet plug separate from the ac adapter. then align with the laptop plug as follows (sorry iphone camera):
roll it up to your desired length. then once you roll it all up, align the velcro in the middle roll. then roll it up and you get the following:
2) outlet plug connected to ac adapter (my personal choice)
with the outlet plug already connected to the ac adapter:
bring down the laptop cable to the outlet plug and then proceed to roll the two vertically along the ac adapter. once you finish, align the velcro to the middle and tie it together. you get the following:
Hehe i was bored. Enjoy! -
I always use my hand as a guide, gently roll it around making sure not to crease or bend.

Nice tutorial

Pics FTW. nice

I find that the easiest way is to not remove any any of the cords from the power block, and fold up the two wires along to the bends that originated from the factory packaging, and wrap the Velcro around the wires. I do this to make sure there's no strain anywhere on the wire that might cause it to break after wrapping it many times, and it's simple. Plus, it doesn't bulge as much in a laptop bag as wrapping the cords around the AC power block.
Here's a cell phone picture of what I mean.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but this is the nerdiest thread ever!

I usually take the 3prong cable and then vertically fold it up and down the brick...then use the part that plugs into the laptop and wrap around the brick/cable. Then i just shove it into my backpack so it doesn't really matter.

I feel duly compelled to participate in this "nerdiest thread ever."
I use alphakenny1's first method, as it's easy, allows me to slide the AC adapter next to my laptop in my carrying bag, and places minimal bending stress on the cable and plugs.

Thanks guys for all the answers! and especially the pics!
"Nerdiest thread ever"? I not sure judging by the other threads around the Lenovo forum (did someone said keyboard flex..?), but I really think that is very useful and may keep your adapter life a bit longer. I've seen users that roll up their AC cable separately, users that tidy up their cables neatly around the adapter - each user has his own method.
Keep the thread going. -
Well, this is even nerdier than KB flex, no matter how you cut it. But nerdy can be fun and good sport too.
Personally, I prefer not even use the wall-cable, but use a short angled plug that plugs directly into the brick and on the other end either roll it around the brick or simply just "collect" (not roll) the wire and stuff it into the bag.
The reason why I don't roll if I can help my compulsive disorder at all, is because I don't want to have the wire bend in the same spots each time which - I gather - could result in premature stress and "tired" cables.
I do the same with sails on my boat. I don't neatly flake the sails because I don't want them to be damaged in the same spot each time.
Nerdy? Yes. But noone said nerdy is necessarily a bad thing or even a put-down, CM
Once and for all: how to roll the ac adapter cable?
