I was using my laptop today, and noticed that my #2 key is not working ... I was wondering if there is anyway to just repair the one key or to troubleshoot this??

    Thanks in advance...

Obviously, the first step would be to plug in a working external keyboard and ensure that that key works on the external keyboard. If it does, then something is wrong with your keyboard. Is there any visible damage to the key/any difference in feel compared to other keys? Use a can of compressed air to dust your keyboard, making sure there's no debris lodged under that key.

Also, are you still under warranty? If so, just call Lenovo and they can send you a replacement keyboard right away.

I don't think we have warranty, the number does work when i try it out in different ways... I did try compressed air... I was thinking about popping out the key and taking a look underneath but I don't know if that is possible with this keyboard...?

    Thanks

Sounds like some type of dirt/grime/or who knows what got in there. Have had this happen a few times with various laptops. Id just pop the key off with the machine turned off and then use a little rubbing alcohol in there. I'd blow some air in there as well. Remove gently, Be careful with the retaining clip and rubbed piece. No one likes hunting done replacement retaining clips.

I think that solved the problem, little bit of pressure to break up the grime and a bit of compressed air... almost good as new (i would say 75% perfect) which is good enough since I really didnt want to remove the key itself.
