Is it basically just a USB3.0 dock with power, or does it have a direct PCI hook-in?
-
from what i was told, it is a USB 3 implementation.

Thanks, I assumed as much. Meh, but better than nothing I guess.

So then is there an advantage to have onelink versus just using a plain old USB 3.0 dock, aside from the fact that there is only one cable to plug?
-
Native Video - no need for a DisplayLink Driver, which only produces problems (and uses some CPU performance). Also, you can´t use the normal USB 3.0 dock under Linux - the OneLink Dock, yes.
One additional adavantage is that you don´t need to turn the OneLink dock on by pressing a button like with the USB 3.0 dock - instead, the power button on top of the dock can be used to turn the Notebook on (which is good if your Notebook is always closed sitting on your desk).
From my own experince with the T430u and the USB 3.0 Dock, I only can say: Stay away from USB 3.0 docks... -
Oh right, so it's not just a USB3.0 dock. How's the native video passed over? Does the pinouts include DP/DVI? (I guess the latter since the presented interface is HDMI?)
If so, looks like a must-buy when the X1 lands here. -
Lenovo didn't say much about the technology behind the OneLink Device.
