I find that if I need to force a shutdown of Windows XP because of an errant application, The Sound Drivers will always need to be reinstalled.
I have never had an issue like this with any other driver, on any other computer.
-
I've never had this issue on my T61p running XP. Is this a common problem?
-
I saw another thread somewhere. It might be with the new driver.
-
This time the driver said it failed to load and would need reinstalling.
-
I had to reinstall the driver--again.
This is the only driver that's doing this. -
I had to reinstall the driver--yet again.
-
Which version driver are you using? Or have you used multiple?
-
I've used the one that came with the system, and now I'm using 7ka113ww, which was supposed to fix the problem, but does not seem to.
-
I did a clean install, and I still have the same problem.
Unlink most windows drivers, the driver starts more than process from the registry. It does not appear like a real Windows driver. Something is putting garbage in my C:/Documents and Settings/Username/Local Settings/Temp folder. If this is an audio doing this, it would have to be the lamest audio driver--ever!!!!!
The driver quality belies the "High Definition" moniker. -
If you can hold out until the official release of Service Pack 3 for XP (should be any day now), hopefully their new UAA driver will work better.
-
I AM running Sp3 on a clean Windows install. I had the same problem before, too.
I have never had a problem with a driver such as this. Once more they claimed they fixed it in this version. The T61 audio driver seems to need a major rework. -
Had to reinstall the driver again!
-
I am still having issues with this driver.
I called Lenovo, and they said to run a certain windows update, but it still does not help, as the video driver still has to be reinstalled weekly.
This driver seems to be a POS, that uses keep-alive tricks to stay loaded in Windows.
My next computer may not be a Thinkpad because of this problem. -
i think i'm having the same problem with my r61.
this is the 2nd time that it has happened to me. basically i would get a blue screen of death so i would have to hold down the power button to restart the computer and on the next restart it would tell me that the soundmax driver was not initialized or something.
how did you reinstall the audio drivers? when i try to install it, it tells me that audio device is not detected. ditto with my modem drivers. when i go to add/remove program soundmax isn't on the list so i have no clue how to reinstall it....
i'm running windows xp pro with service pack 3 btw.
