The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    OpenSuse on T500?

    I plan to buy a T500, if it fullfills some of my OS needs.

    Will OpenSuse run on that system? I'm particulary worried about the switchable graphic...

    i'm quite sure that it will work, more or less as thinkpads are generally linux-friendly, you may have to spend some time configuring couple of things though;

    as for switchable graphics you'd be able to set onboard/discrete GPU in BIOS and then linux will probably be able to handle it no problems, but i don't think you'd be able to change GPU "on demand" while runnig OS; so far only the Vista driver allows that

    please correct me if i'm wrong
