What can I delete on a freshly opened Y580 and what is essential or needed?(like cam software etc)
    Any list?
It's got tons of software I want gone. Since it's a laptop I am not sure what may cause problems if deleted.

This laptop does feel a bit fragile. I do wonder how long this would last.

Isn't the keyboard suppose light up??? Mine is not lit.

What can I delete in the list below?

Widi - if you're not using it.
    Control center - pointless.
    Power2Go - DVD software
    User Guide
Windows Live - if you don't like Windows Live
MS Office - if it's the trial version
Webcam stuff - if you don't need it. Up to you.

The rest looks relatively useful. (FYI, I did a clean install onto an SSD)

For MSCONFIG check out blackviper.com; it's got a list of things that you can disable.

Lower resolution are better for gaming. Higher resolution makes games looks nicer but slower then low res. But with gtx660m either res shouldn't be an issue.

As for your pondering what to delete, do a clean install of Windows 7 and install programs you need. Don't forget the drivers and not to touch the partitions or OneKeyRecover function won't work.

Any other software or things i should turn off in msconfig or startup?

Boot optimizer? MSD? Energy Management??? Necessary software?

    What's lockkey?

What about the realtek software in the system tray like sound recorder and the stuff it has with it? Can I get rid of these too?

What windows features can I turn off?
If I use Windows Basic or would it be better to use windows Classic to save CPU power? Or should I shut off themes altogether?

Please have patience with me :) thank you

You can remove boot optimizer. The rest you can keep. Energy Management is important because it displays the on screen display of FN keys and the hardware keys.
