I am planning to buy a T400 and can't figure out the difference in spending the money on the following. If you have the following options, please let me know how much of a performance difference they make.

Intel Turbo memmory used with a 7200RPM drive?

ATI descrete graphics not used in 3D apps or Games?

Can your Vista32 see memory past 3GB?

Anybody know what a "low halogen" AC adapter is?

For office-type work, the integrated intel gpu is fine.
If you want or need more gpu power, go for the dedicated ATI.
Though Vista32/Win7-32 does not use much of the ram above 3GB, having extra ram does nevertheless have a positive effect on system performance. If you have 4GB ram and use 64bit vista/Win7 (which does use most of any memory available) you will see a huge performance difference.

    1) Turbo memory is a waste as long as you have more then 2GB or ram

    2) ATI is great for light gaming and CAD, but nothing else. I have the ATI because even though I do mostly work, I do occasionally game and switching is only a right click and a few seconds away from bettery battery life.

    3) Vista 32 cannot see more then 3GB

    4) I dont know about the low halogen ac adapter

Thank u liquidxit2, this was very helpful. I keep wondering if turbo memory could help anyway, even with 4GB.

I dont know under windows 7 since they supposedly improved superfetch, but for vista it would honestly be a waste in my opinion.

I do not have turbo memory and I have 4 GB RAM. My RAM usage is pretty much always less than 35%.

If you have 4GB RAM, turbo memory will actually slow your system down.

A system with 4GB RAM and turbo memory will be slower than a system with 4GB RAM and no turbo memory.

Do not get turbo memory if you have more than 2GB RAM.

Thanks everyone, I am clear now.

Anybody know which reasonably priced ssd drive around 120G would go well with the newer thinkpads?
