my old laptop died so i'm looking for a replacement. I use it only for emailings, internet surfing, video playback but never for gaming or running photoshop . I chose this because it's running on WinXP (i heard nothing but terrible things on Vista) and also the processor speed seems to be quite fast. It's only 1 gig RAM but i figure i can upgrade that and other things later if i need to. How is the build quality of Lenovo thinkpads? Is it loud when the fan comes on? Any other issues I need to know about on this laptop? Thanks

I moved this to the Lenovo section where I think you'll get a bit more action. I haven't seen a R61 yet, but I've liked both the T61s I saw. The 15.4" R61 lacks the roll cage in the lid which the T61 has.
