Okay so I just got my w510 two weeks ago, and after a week I went to open the optical drive to insert a disc to make the back up discs. Well when I pushed the button to open optical drive it said that power manager was turning it on. However, it never did so never opened. I had to go to my computer to force it to open and if I wasn't using the drive within like a minute it was shutting itself back down and wsan't coming back on unless I restart. Does anyone know how to shut the power manager from turning it off or why it is doing that?

Any help would be appreciated. Tried to call technical service, but I must have dialed wrong one because it just told me to go to lenovo forums.

i have found this to be the problem too with win 7 on the T400 and T500. Must be some sort of glitch with the power manager.

Power Manager -> Advanced -> First Tab (something with profiles) ->

There you go to the first expendable button and the last item should offer you to disable that "feature" to shutdown the optical drive. Don't know the exact words because I use a german Power Manager. I deactivated this function because I experienced problems aswell - especially while I created my recovery CDs.
