What is PC DOS License, meaning it doesnt come with an OS and just the basic DOS?

    Operating System 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop version 10
ThinkPad PC DOS License [subtract $7.50 $11.25]

Which thinkpad has these options? I would love to buy a blank Thinkpad without any OS. Ubuntu is great and Vista sucks. It is about time for laptop makers to stop forcing people to pay $50-$100 for crappy software they hate.

For those who complain about Vista being resource-hungry, the ultimate lightweight OS... DOS 2.0. :D

Microsoft's contract with all computer makers says they cannot sell a blank computer without any OS on it. Selling a computer with PC-DOS goes around this ancient rule, not because people are really using DOS.

Oh man, if only I could buy a Thinkpad in DOS! It's *almost* like a OS-less PC

OK, now I'm seeing the option. This kinda annoys me to an extent, as I just bought this T61p a month ago, and had to pay for a Vista Home Basic license (it was the cheapest OS at the time) which I instantly formatted over, but this would have saved me close to $100

Windows is nothing but a GUI for DOS. Mac OSX is nothing but a GUI for BSD 'nix.

what's the feasibility of starting some kind of online petition... If you want a company to do something, you have to show them there are people willing to pay for it.

um what's your point? Crysis is just a GUI for a text based game? World of Warcraft is a GUI for MUD?

Not sure if you're being sarcastic but you're waaaay oversimplifying things.
