I ordered a computer on Jan 31 online and there is still no status update or shipping date. All it says is "submitted". Is this normal? How long does it usually take for a shipping date to appear?

It is normal. At least, it is the same when I ordered my T400 back in November.

I ordered a T410 on the 25th of Jan and have still heard nothing! Just hoping good things DO come to those who wait!

I ordered a W510 on 1/12 and my estimated shipping date and status (in progress) also have not changed. I wasn't worried about this, having ordered a few Thinkpads in the past and somewhat used to Lenovo's lack of order updates.

After reading on this forum of other people having received their W510's, who ordered long after I had, I decided to e-mail Lenovo and ask if there was an issue with my order. Sure enough when the reply came; 2 days later. It stated my order had been submitted to the "Executive Team" and there was "no unknown reason" why my order was not submitted to production (I assume that means there was a reason, but they couldn't elaborate). I also called Lenovo and spoke to a friendly representative who confirmed what the e-mail had stated, but also could not provide any details for the hold-up and that it should be resolved by the following Monday. I have no idea if my order would have been looked at by someone if I had not explicitly contacted Lenovo. This is also pretty weird, as the dock that was part of my order I've already received.

In my experience this is probably entirely normal for Lenovo as their ordering system is quite opaque. If you're concerned it could be worth an e-mail, or better yet a phone call as the representatives I've spoken to are responsive and friendly.

Ordered my W500 today. Estimated ship date is March 22. Good thing I'm in no hurry to receive it.

When you order a laptop through lenovo.com, it will say "in process" until the day that it ships. I admit, the process of monitoring when/what steps that laptop is at when being built is non existant. It will say "in process" for days/weeks. Then one day it will say "shipped" and give you a tracking number.

It's annoying, isn't it? When I ordered (feb 2nd) it said that it'd likely ship within 9 - 11 days, but all my order status pages has said since then is "submitted" with no eta.

One thing that happened, is an order that I placed a day earlier, and then cancelled over the phone had switched from 'submitted' to 'in process' about 6 days after the fact.. it has since gone to canceled. I took this to mean that 'submitted' signifies that the order's bouncing around in Lenovo's computer systems, and 'in process' means that the order has actually made it to the manufacturing facilities?

I also noticed that while the 'shipping method' was empty, it changed to "L2 GL Standard" about 5 days after ordering, which may reflect some sort of processing.. maybe it means that the admin work is all done, and it's a matter of waiting for my machine to roll off the production line and get configured?

This is all just speculation after obsessing over my order status for a week or so, though. Really I'm just as in the dark as you are. Here's hoping our orders get released within the work week!

ps, also possibly of interest, when I was cancelling my first order, the Lenovo rep said that if I included his rep ID in my online order, it would get sent out faster.. something about it going directly to his queue as opposed to a 'catch all' queue, where it'd likely spend an extra day or two in limbo. Anyone know anything about that?
