Alright so I just ordered my W530 last night. I got up this morning and had a look at the order status. It says "Order Received" and has an estimated ship date of 2012/08/12. Is it always initially this long, and then changes as things go? Or is that the actual estimated ship date? because I nee this laptop ASAP.

It's probably going to take a week or two. They may move the shipping date closer (they did with mine), but buying a configure-to-order product from Lenovo is not a fast process. If you need a new system within the next 3 days, you'd be better off buying a preconfigured version or something from a brick-and-mortar store.

Yes it is normal. Barring massive shortages (highly unlikely) and natural disasters & accidents (unpredictable) you should have your machine in two weeks or so.

No, I don't need it that soon. I just don't want to wait nearly a month. If it were here next friday, I'd be happy. Wednesday of the following week would be good. Anything after that is going to suck.

Usually about 10 to 15 business days, but I've known cases of 21 days.

Brace yourself for a very quiet wait as no (meaningful) updates are available. You have to call them. Certain computer companies make a courtesy call the day before the notebook is delivered so the customer can arrange to be home to pick it up, but not Lenovo.

Their estimates are conservative. Like everyone else says, 2 weeks is usually right barring anything unusual.

    I ordered a custom T530 on July 6th.
It left China on 7/13 and will be delivered today.

I ordered an extra adapter and docking station which were delivered last week.

I have had nothing but wonderful service from the folks at Lenovo. I messed up on a system and they were able to cancel it even though it had been released to manufacturing. We got the reorder handled promptly. I have received emails every step of the way, acknowledging the order, placing the order, each shipment. When I login to check order status each day, information is there.

I have had to call several times on my first order (due to my mess up, not them) and had wonderful, helpful, and easy to understand people to deal with. After years of Dell customer service which made me want to pull out my hair, I am happy to be a new Lenovo customer.

Looking forward to unboxing my T530 later today.

Released to manufacturing. Estimated ship date hasn't changed, though.

Good luck. I ordered my X230t on 6/19. No SSD or anything fancy. Took a week for the status to say "released to manufacturing." The original estimated ship date was like 6/27. That came and went without notice. After that the estimated ship date changed on almost a daily basis. 7/4, 7/6, 7/8, etc. I've called Lenovo CS several times and they always assure me that it will be shipping soon, but they know next to nothing about their logistics chain it seems. Fast forward to today - my estimated ship date was 7/19 (yesterday). So I call and inform them that I THINK they might have missed the mark, again. The guy on the phone assures me it will be shipping TODAY. I check the order status page and now it says the ship date is 8/7 lololol.
