Hey guys,
been awhile since i was on here, but thought I'd share that I am picking up my 2nd Lenovo laptop ever, the Y580. I wanted a gaming machine on the go as I am addicted Star Wars The Old Republic. My old T61p isn't cutting it when it comes to light gaming as I had to shut all graphics down to low and nothing to make the game even decently playable.
I will hang on to my T61p forever till she dies, maybe use it to record my DJ gigs, who knows.
I was looking at Asus ROG laptops and Alienware 14x but I have been a Lenovo guy for a few years now and I will never shy away from a great product and brand. I trust Lenovo with my mobile computing. The specs of mine were exactly that of the Alienware 14x minus the flashy stuff and I have the next gen of video cards in the 660M GTX
Here are the Specs for my New Y580
- Model 209942U
- 15.6 LED Screen with 1080p HD
- Intel Core i7 - 3610QM
- 8GB DDR3 Ram
- 1TB HD
- Blu-ray Rambo
- Nvidia GTX 660M 2GB DDR5
- 2x USB 3.0 and 2X USB 2.0
- 6Cell Battery at 4hrs performance life
- Dawn Grey in Color
Hopefully She will last me as long as my trusty T61p![]()

Nice purchase, and great choice on going with the 1080p, will be curious to hear your thoughts when you get it. What kind of price did you get? Cheaper than the AW m14X I'm assuming!

Ordered the same one, cept didn't bother upgrading to the 1TB HDD. Shipped already and estimated arrival is the 21st, can't wait!

I paid just over $1300 with a 3 year warranty.

I just ordered one too, but no 1080p screen (I usually connect it to an external anyway), no BD, and $900 after tax.

Good price. We get screwed with special Canadian pricing

Hmm, I'm also in Canada.
There are these commission based redirect sites like FatWallet and Ebates, which collect commission from vendors and give a portion of it to the consumer. I'm getting 5% back on my purchase through them, which amounted to a good $40. That was taken into account in my total price. -
I have a y570 that I picked up last year and up can't wait to pick up the y580 later this year. You won't regret the 1080 screen. In fact the low resolution on my 570 is the only complaint I have with the device.

If im not mistaken, this is the Canadian site. I think the base 849$ model is pretty legit?
