7) slightly thicker (?)
8) 14.1" ws is a physically smaller screen than 14.1" std
But many ppl prefer ws for some obvious reasons tho it does have big minuses for others. The industry is ramming it down our throats b/c widescreen is CHEAP to make
Great purchase... looking fwd to your 1st impressions of it.

interesting - that website allows you to install Windows Vista Business 64 - why don't they offer this option on the lenovo website!?
I'm really freakin perplexed as to why this screen size isn't available on the lenovo website. Obviously its available!
Am a little bummed out that it won't be available with discrete graphics...
I ordered a wide screen T61 two days ago...am thinking of cancelling...argagagag. -
-
The shipment took shorter than expected... i'm going to get it tomorrow ....
I'm so excited
-- -
lowspeed,
How did you get that pricing on that configuration? Was a discount in effect when you ordered? -
Take some pictures tomorrow and post em up ASAP. Take pictures of the opening the box
I am going to be ordering one later this week but I would love to see some good pictures of yours to hold my appetite.
Thanks -
Well i got it... looks nice... but guess what it doesn't have....
firewire. -
no firewire
pics please -
The discount was automatic.
-
We know you're busy playing with the new toy but please, post some pictures! -
I will... as soon as i get this vista thing going....
I think i'm going to reinstall vista cause i already got BSOD.
First time really running vista... and it sucks. -
That sucks.
Did you try to get rid of the preinstalled junk first?
BTW, how much of useless stuff did you get from Lenovo? -
1st pic....

Not the best shot...
It has IR btw...
This thing is slimer than my T23 and a little (really not much) bigger in width and depth
the right palm side gets warm from the 7200rpm HD.
---- -
Hi-res, pretty cool.
Already missing the IBM sticker? -
I'm thinking of peeling it off my T23
-
-
I would say uncomfortably warm, but thats after a full grind installing vista...
But not crazy wow its going to melt warm.
I expected it to be less warm from all the talk of how much cooler it is.
It got a 3.4 windows experience mark...
Is that any good ?
-- -
It won't get over 4 without a discrete graphics card. -
Please let us know if stays as warm during normal use. -
Hmm, I hope your TP cools down. I've been thinking that I want something that's cool, 14" SXGA+, and has discrete graphics, but if the TP becomes hot like everything else in this loadout, that leaves me still confused.
-
this thing is going back.
I got bsod when I opened it up this morning. fresh vista install. -
Were all the drivers installed? Lame man... -
Before you ship it back can you weigh it please
-
yeah I do have the express memory.
I'm so upset lenovo wants to charge 15% restocking fee.
and yes I installed all the drivers. device page showed all are set. -
-
Is it the machine or Vista causing the BSOD?
Also, Can you comment on the lid of the t61. Is the exterior finish and feel similar to your T23? -
I have no idea.... but it apears that the reps are getting more and more calls for this. bsod can be very tricky.
after I talked to support they waived the restocking fee.
about the finish and overall
I did hear a high pictch sound at times from the electronics...
the lid is definitly better than T23 . the keyboard isnt..
The HD was defective I believe because you can feel the spinning vibration. and lots of heat. I would opt for the 160 5400 next time if I gain confidese that they solved the problems.
I had a better screen on the T23 but this was not bad. some sparkle though.
battery life seems to be at least 3 and half hours.
anything else u want to know? -
Would you please check the designation of your harddrive?
-
You mean as far as acoustic setting ?
-- -
Crazy. Can't believe they tried to charge you 15% same as someone who just changes their minds. Well actually maybe I can.
Defective hd responsible for the excessive heat? Wasn't sure you were implying that, since you were talking about going to a 5400.
If not, so much for the bigger fans. -
Well the fans are for the CPU and some chips on the board.
There's no fan for the HD.
Now that I look at the system again, i think the fit and finish is not that great... i'll try to post some pictures of defects but it's very hard to notice since its all black. -
Here's some more pics... hopefully you can see what i'm talking about

can you please post a picture of the 9cell battery? thanks.
-
I got the 6 cell.
-- -
-
My Inspiron has better build quality (as in fit-n-finish). -
-
Lowspeed,
thank you VERY MUCH for the info and pictures!!! -
No prob.
I added a t23 comparison pictures
I got the T23 i believe Oct of 2001. Amazing durability.

Any more news on the laptop?
I'm really hoping for general availability of this laptop with 9 cell battery. -
I returned it
I'll probablly order another one, only with no turbo memory and 5400rpm and bigger capacity to compensate for the slower spin. (somewhat)
Ah and of course hope that the fit and finish will be better. (and it doesnt have the other problems (thats a lot to ask !, but i believe it can be a great laptop)

Does anyone here have the CTO 4:3 with the nVidia 570FX yet?
-
-
My old X30 has finally taken its last breath. Given some of the comments I've read about the new Lenovo T series construction, my confidence in the Thinkpad line has been shaken. Has anyone else had any experience/success with the T61 4:3?
Also, I still don't see if listed under the T series page and called Lenovo to confirm the "official" release date and was told that they decided to not release them because "the entire market is going widescreen". -
-
-
Post pictures please! What logo did they give you? The classic or new trendy logo?
-
when did you order it?
Ordered T61 4:3 (sxga+)
