Ordered a T61

Was going to wait for a T400, but they were just going to be too much more than the current price of the T61's. Also, through CPP they had some really good deals and discounts on some of the upgrades.

So I ended up getting:

Free 2 day shipping...didnt know that which is pretty sweet, says estimated ship date is August 5...any chance that is sooner?

 

Do they really offer the 8400 on the T61 now?

Yea, t8300...the 2."4"ghz sortof caused me to do that.

 

I ordered a T61 on July 23rd and he order was shipped on July 29th.

However, I found that the bluetooth was not on the list when I checked my order status. I remembered that bluetooth is a standard item on T61. I'm sure I did not subtract this configuration.

Should I call lenovo to make sure what is going on???

 

They are currently sort on the bluetooth. They subtracted it from your config so its like 15$ cheaper. You just can't see it. You will probably get it before Aug.5. I bet they are really slow now with orders with the T400 anticipation

 

sorry to hear that bud but your kinda in a predicament,
bluetooth does not come standard and its always an options albeit it was always selected, but for the last 2 weeks, they are on a bluetooth shortage. they wont be getting in any for around 3-4 weeks according to their rep.

Yeah the bluetooth shortage forced me to cancel my order and reorder. They have some great deals.

 

I looked up how to add the internal bluetooth module. Not for the faint of heart but do-able for those with a little experience at such matters. How does that affect the warranty on the systems?

Is there any concern about a BT antenna if the system isn't ordered with BT?

What's strange is that through my school's bookstore I can get to a Lenovo configurator that includes bluetooth as an option as well as WXGA+ with camera. What do you suppose would happen if I ordered through that avenue; would they drop those items and adjust the price or would they backorder them?

 

Believe it or not.
I ordered this laptop on July 23rd 7pm and I tracked my T61 on UPS.
It showed that the package would be delivered tomorrow.

Dose anybody know if I can install a bluetooth daughter card by myself? Or I have to sell my thinkpad bluetooth laser mouse.

 

I'm pretty sure you can't install the card and internal bluetooth antenna. You can always use a USB wireless mouse

 

i just called today asking whats happening with it because i got my free printer and my docking station but not the computer...estimated was the 5th shes like it should ship the 16th...I'm like are u kidding? So after a lot of arguing like i need this laptop before than (I'm going to school) I couldnt understand her but i think I heard her say there is a possibility yours could ship out tomorrow Hopefully I heard that right, but if not I may have to cancel and just buy something from bestbuy

 

You CAN install them, but they are not easy to come by, and your video cable may or may not have the socket you need to plug it into. I looked for a long time before I found the parts needed to install bluetooth on my old X23 (on ebay). One option would be to just go pick up a Kensington mini BT adapter. It just sticks out a little bit from your USB port, but it does take up a USB port.

I'd just get one of those external adapters for now, and wait for the internal ones from Lenovo to become a bit more common, and therefore cheaper, on places like ebay.

 

I ordered on July 25th and got it today, July 30th. I live in California too, so that was really quick.

 

called today...and after getting bs'd around by the "customer service" person i had to beg to get transferred to a supervisor which he wouldnt put me through to. They were saying it was getting shipped the week of the 11th, after he said normal time for this is 15 days which would be the 5th or around there. So I'm like why, I need this laptop before the 15th and is it gonna be pushed back any further? The supervisor told me that they have the bluetooth constraint or something and it cant go out before then...and it could be pushed past then...So I'm really mad I could have that shipped have my dad set it up then fedex it to me but that is just annoying. I want it before then. I saw an outlet one with specs that I like, but its more money. Could I convince them in anyway to give me that one for a discounted extra since they are not shipping it out like they planned to? When i ordered it said ships 1-2 weeks, I wouldnt have ordered if it would've taken longer. This is annoying anyone else have any ideas?
