    @sp00n,WSFrazier: Thanks a lot! It's really exciting, but high school is really killing me. Can't wait for high school to end. Senioritis FTW.

    @uhkordguy: http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/6632/laptopaf9.png

    @The Fire Snake: No, tax was $96.31 so it came out to $1246.22. I decided to just get the basic 1 year warranty, for now. I might decide to upgrade later.

    Congrats on the computer and acceptance. It's a tough curriculum but well worth it. Unless things have changed, I thought all the incoming frosh in Carnegie Tech are undecided by definition and can't declare a major until soph year.

    Why didn't you choose the best college in the university? ;)

    I'm wonder to how you get that price and get 9 cell battery, there is no option on lenovo.com for that.

    @allanw: Ja, I ought to fix that one of these days.

    @Tim: :). Thanks! I've been a ThinkPad fanboy since forever and this was a... moment I'll never forget...

    @GoodToGo: Thanks. Most of the time I'll be using it for web browsing, writing papers, etc. I do game occasionally and will probably run stuff like AutoCAD or ProE when work calls for it.

    @msb0b: Thanks! At CIT you can't officially declare a major until sophomore year, but I'm pretty much decided on ECE. I'm seriously thinking of either transferring to the best college or double majoring in CS, though. I'll see how things work out.

    @klhguy, bazi: Here's what I did. A few weeks ago there was a coupon USPGRANDSLAM. I was able to stack that onto a discount from my university and that's how I got the price. When I did that, the 9-cell option was still available and I saved it as a price quote. I ordered the price quote yesterday, and they didn't ask about the battery.

    Ya the GRANDSLAM was a great coupon.
    I though there is some kind new hidden promotion beside that 10% of something SPRING. :)

    Just giving you a hard time. What's a little rivalry between SCS and CIT? ;) The ECE program is excellent and just as difficult to get in as CS. CMU offered admission to a HS friend on the condition that he will not transfer to CS or ECE. Poor schmuck. ;)

    If you got the drive, and it sounds like you do, you should give the integrated masters bachelor program serious consideration. It's a great program because most students can earn their M.S. degree in 5 years instead of 4+2.5 years if done separately. I think a graduate degree does much more to set you apart than two degrees in similar majors.

    Good luck to whatever you end up doing.

    @SonDa5: :). Thanks.

    @bazi: Yeah that sale was pretty great. New ThinkPads are coming out in the beginning of June, though, so there will definitely be more sales.

    @Arkit3kt: Yep, that's where I found my coupon codes.

    @msb0b: Thanks. I was actually serious about thinking of transferring to CS. Regardless of what I end up doing, though, I'm aiming for some sort of 5 year super-program like the masters in ECE, masters in CS, or the CS-MBA program. The CS-MBA one seems the nicest of the three.

    I saved a price quote from before the 9 cells were taken out.
