This site is the best and I felt compelled to join and say hi and thanks to notebookreview.com
I was perusing the Notebook deals and stumbled on the Stockholder Thinkpad deal. It struck my eye because yesterday I was in the process of ordering a glorious T60 but couldn't because of the price. I tried every configuration to bring down the price to a reasonable level and I couldn't.
So I jumped on the stockholders link entered the code...thank you notebookreview.comand viola i'm in and boy was I excited. So now the first thing I notice is the T60 is already $200 cheaper than yesterday.
I started adding all the goodies, T7200, XP Pro (I hate Vista, tried and hated the OS),15.4 WSXGA+TFT, ATi X1400, 1 gig of ram (i'll buy it later at a cheaper price), 160gb HDD, DVD Multilayer recorder, and Intelpro Wireless. The grand total was 1978.00 and my cost was 1345.00

WOW! a $633 savings such a deal even I couldn't pass up even on the award winning T60.
Btw i'm a former Thinkpad customer as far back as 1997 when IBM made them and they were bricks. Even though Lenovo makes them I still feel they have the best quality of most if not all notebooks in the market.
I hope I didn't bore you all with my story today. Thanks for reading.![]()

Glad you found a better deal than you could before, good luck with the T60!

Where is the coveted stockholder link and the code?
-
Employee / Shareholder Discount on ThinkPad Notebooks
Link to Product Deal Lenovo is offering employee pricing to all IBM stockholders.
use the url: http://www.lenovo.com/ibmspp and use offer ID number 536686. You can get a 15" ThinkPad T60 for $879. -
holy fudge that is good price. Any chance of this comin to canadians?
-
Can we do a 21 day price match with the stockholder discount???? I'd save about 200!
-
Wow, that's an awesome price. Congrats!
-
on the SPP site it says availible for both residents of Canada and the US. HOwever, when I configure a system it only allows me to ship to US! What's going on!? Do you know where the SPP site for Canadian orders is? Thanks.
-
mliu, done holding out for the T61? For Canadian shareholders:

Access Code: STKEPP -
-
yo jhrice what do you put in for the serial numbeR!!! pm me or post fast! yes i'm tired of waiting >><<lol
-
yo those prices aren't even as good as the visaperks.ca prices lol...yea and also you can't get the exact system you want from the canadian site coz you can't customize!!! yea too unforunate.
-
i am jsut wondering what would happen if i ordered using the stockholder discount and they find out that i am not really a stockholder??... Do they check or don't??
-
I wouldn't sweat it. Purchases are limited to five per customer and it's while supplies last. I got my brochure with the annual company report but the brochure does not have any personal information on it. Given how much IBM stock has been issued over the years they are definitely not going to do the necessary research.
-
-
The current one on the website still works. I tried it 10 minutes ago and was able to get in and configure a system.
-
hehe i am just wondering has anyone successfully purchased a computer using the stockholder account while not being a stockholder at all?
-
I'm sooooo jealous! Congrats though and welcome to the club
-
-
p.s. I own a Mac too. -
As one thing I would liek to say to a fellow NEW Lenovo owner... update your computer once you get it. A lot of the software is old... System Update 3.0 download link below... (we really need to make a sticky with this post of mine, lol)
-
I am very confused here.
Why holding IBM shares would entitle you to get discount from another company, Lenovo?
And I am an IBM share holder, but I don't have any of those ID's -
So, it appears that lenovo has refreshed their pre-install images (at least for the 8744 type T60p's) -
I just ordered basically the same rig as the OP (went with 14.1 screen), and the shareholder discount worked just fine.
-
-
Where do you enter the code? For my configurations in the link I am not seeing a $633 discount. I just may finally get a thinkpad if I can get that discount.
-
Okay, I could not resist ... I purchased a T60 Widescreen with the following specs for $1,080.00
Intel? Core" 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66GHz, 2MB L2, 667MHz FSB)[1]
Genuine Windows XP Home Edition[12]
15.4 WXGA TFT
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)[8]
Integrated fingerprint reader
160GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm[4]
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim[5]
ThinkPad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter[10]
9 cell Li-Ion Battery[60]
1 Year Limited Warranty[7]
After a couple months of research, I felt this was the best deal for my purposes (MS Office user, mainly word processing and internet research). Quick questions ...
How difficult is it to install another GB of RAM after I get it (shipping date is 5/8/07)? I have read many talk about installing it afterwards (at a better price) and specifically bought the 1 DIMM to upgrade it. I know just enough to be dangerous ... but I have never actually cracked open a laptop. Should I go for it or not mess with it? -
It is more difficult than a normal laptop because of the RAM slot location beneath the Touchpad, but by no means brain surgery. You can judge for yourself though, just follow this link to Lenova's step by step directions for installation, they even have a video to show you how.

Yay!!!! I just ordered a T60 Thinkpad and saved $716!!!!
I actually just ordered it yesterday on my new credit card without the discount, so I'm going to cancel that order in the morning. Thanks! -

The offer code goes in the box that is on the page linked in the SPP thread. Make sure you have your browser set to accept cookies from Lenovo's site however, otherwise it may just take you to their normal store (with the standard prices); this is what happened to me at first.
Anyway, I jumped on this deal as well, saved a nice chunk of change and it enabled me to get the config I wanted (even a little better than I was originally looking at) at a price just about within budget.
I think their current special of 50% off upgrades is pretty neat; doing it that way lets you see what each upgrade is going to cost after discount right when you're configuring it.
Handy. -
wow you weren't kidding... this is the best deal yet.. I wonder if the discover $120 off code will stack with this?
maybe fatwallet forums cash back? -
First, SPP was scheduled to expire on 4/23. So don't wait too long to use the page while it's still alive. And two, Fatwallet is offering a 5% discount for Lenovo purchases. What I did was 1) go & register for free at Fatwallet, 2) disable your pop-up blocker, 3) click on FW's Lenovo store link (which should generate a FW sticky pop-up where you can leave yourself a note about the purchase), 4) when Lenovo's web site appears go to the search function and search on "Shareholder Purchase Program", 5) click on the first hit found, authenticate with code 536686 and start your shopping. A day later after you pay for your laptop FW will send you an email about the 5% refund check that will be available in 3 or 4 months time.
-
The Canadian site now asks for a 7 digit stockholder # during checkout. Is this needed and if so does anyone have one they could share?
-
Prices have now gone up with this deal. I placed my order last night and today the same config is >$200 more.
-
The 50% off upgrades is no longer available.
-
ye the same z61 I configured last week is $225 more....I had a feeling that I wouldn't be able to beat that price. When santa rosa comes out I hope I can at least match that prices or somewhere around it.
-
Guy feel sorry for everybody who could not catch good deal. I went on website today and just could believe my laptop now is on 400 more than it was week ago
-
ye It's unfortunate but they might become cheaper when the santa rosa comes out. That is if they still let you customize your pc with the core 2 duo as an option.
-
-
time isn't really an issue for me....I just need to get my computer by august 15th...but I fear my hesitation may have cost me a few hundred dollars in the end.
-
good info, thanks!
-
Thank you!
Ordered a new T60 Thinkpad and saved $633
