Is the T60p(2.33GHz) out of date now? I love the standard screen.

    Yes.
However, if you only use it for web browsing and Office or nothing demanding, then go for it...especially if you are particularly fond of the screen.

I have one @2.16Ghz 2gig mem (the screen is great). And yeah performance wise it's fine, it's not superfast but it boots in like 1min, and most applications run fine.

Can I use it to play 3D games on it, especially for the upcoming starcraft2, How about the discreted graphic card running on T60P? Is this one still good for now?
    Thanks for your reply.

Thanks, I ordered from IBM refurbed website, ''pre-owned'' computer refurbed certified by IBM, I really do not know what it looks. (marked hair/scratch), I am looking forward to it.

Does every T60p come with the IPS display?

No, the 14" models do not have an IPS display.

I would seriously doubt that a 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo would be considered out of date. With enough RAM that computer should be faster than a lot of new computers sold today, (ie. Pentium Dual-Core with only 1 or 2MB cache)

I dont think you should regret your purchase, plus that IPS screen will be a dream to use for daily work.

^ +1. I wouldn't consider a T60p with a C2D T7600 out of date at all; I use a very similar system almost daily and am nothing but impressed with the performance. Processor-wise, it's a pretty good rig, especially if you scored a 15" non-widescreen version with an IPS display.

That said, the GPU in these machines are either an ATi FireGL V5200 or V5250; based off the Mobility Radeon X1600 or X1700 respectively. I get a 3Dmark06 benchmark of about 1700; not that impressive but it can handle most slightly older games alright. I've played Far Cry 2 at lower settings with reasonable framerates, Doom 3 runs well with settings just about maxed, and Bioshock runs decent other than inexplicable crashes. I'm not sure how well this GPU will handle Starcraft 2, however.

Blizzard is making SC2, supposedly, able to play on anything from low end to high end. Then again this is just something I heard, personally its a blizzard game so I think youll be fine.

All 15" should because they're all SXGA+ or UXGA, which are the FlexViews, but the XGA screen on the T60 is not.

What is IPS screen? I thought before that SXGA+ is IPS screen, but right now it looks it is wrong. What is the advantage of the IPS screen?
And so 14 inch T60p is just SXGA+ screen, am I right?

    Thanks for answer.

You can see the advantage of the IPS screen in the review of the T60p, where there are pictures comparing the T60p with a Dell screen.
    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2864
You can see the viewing angles are much better with the IPS screen on the T60p.

That is true. If they make it so that it's playable on even integrated graphics, you'll be fine. The V5200/5250 is still a couple of leaps ahead of even the latest integrated chips that I know of, although it is still only DX9-capable.

Another thing to keep in mind is that your load temps will be pretty toasty, even alarmingly so. However, I haven't heard of very many T6x ATi cards failing, and my V5250 still doesn't miss a beat even after hours of heavy gaming.

everything about a T60p is fine, except the heat issue with the T7xxx and ATI FireGL GPU combo. It is no slouch in the performance department either.
