I just ordered my T61 to replace an old aging Dell. Tell me what you guys think maybe I should change something?
Intel® Core 2 Duo processor T9300 (2.5GHz 800MHz 6MBL2)
Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic - I have a Vista Ultimate disc
14.1 WXGA+ TFT
nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M
2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad) with Fingerprint Reader
100GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim
PC Card Slot & Express Card Slot
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ
7 cell Li-Ion Battery

Can't wait for it to arrive. I am kind of worried they will be slow shipping the penryn processors do you guys think it would ship faster with the T7700?
THanks.!

It looks great

If you wanted to go cheaper, do 1GB and then upgrade it yourself. Might want to consider a DVD-RW, but other than that it looks great.

change your order with the cheapest HDD. Then, buy mine that is 100gb 7200rpm Hitachi that I used for 3 days before getting a bigger one, and you would have another HDD for free, since the upgrade from 100gb 5400rpm to 100gb 7200rpm was 80 bux as far as I remember. I'll give you mine for 75 shipped, lol.
other than that, it looks good -
may i ask how you got it for so cheap, i am trying to configure what you got and it is about ~150 more without shipping and tax

Congrats, first on-forum Penryn T61 order!!!!!!!!
When you get it, can you tell me which BIOS you have? (notice my list of planned upgrades) -

Congrats on the purchase dude! If possible, downgrade your RAM to 1GB and then buy your RAM separately(like from www.newegg.com) for much cheaper and upgrade it yourself, it is extremely easy!
-
I agree with everyone else buy the RAM from somewhere else and save a few hundred dollars
-
I really hope that doesn't happen I need this machine in the next two - three weeks I don't have time for it to sit in 'processing' for a month. The website says processing should only take a day or two so I will probably call them on Monday if it is still on that stage.
What would you recommend I do if it actually is stuck because of that coupon?
P.S. I did buy 4GB ram from newegg after taking you guys advice but the upgrade was only $64 so I will just give these ram sticks to someone in my family rather than deal with changing/cancelling-reordering the laptop. -
I'm not exactly sure. It was very easy though to create a paypal account to place the order. Maybe you will get it no problems but I would be cautious. Lenovo customer support is complete chaos, just because it appears to have gone through doesn't mean it will. In fact your credit card won't be charged until the order ships. On a slightly related note to attest to this fact, when I was going to buy a lenovo laptop, I originally ordered an R series and then 2 days later called them up to cancel it so I could order a T series. The rep said he would cancel the order. Of course I was very leery about this and kept checking the supposedly canceled order online. To make a long story short I'm glad I did because nothing was changing and a few days later I called again to ask about it and it hadn't been canceled. Would have been quite a hassle to have it show up on my doorstep.

Thanks for the heads up I figured that since the ordered went through there wouldn't be any problems now I know to be aware. -
Just wanted to update you guys I received an email this morning letting me know my laptop had shipped. It should be here tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest.
-
That seems pretty fast, when did you place the order exactly?
-
Last Wednesday (30th) at about 12:30ish in the afternoon.
1 7662CT CONFIGURED SYSTEM
Status: Shipped on 02/03/2008 More info -
how long did it sit status: In Process???
-
I just ordered one too with almost the same config except only 1GB of ram and 6 cell battery. I can't seem to get the Paypal discount to work.
-
so it went from "in process" straight to shipped???
Ordered my T61. I am happy.
