Too bad it wasn't a T61. I've wanted to order one ever since they were announced, but with all the negative posts about them and uncertainty of the quality of the LCD, I decided to go with a T60 Flexview.

    I ordered a 15" non-widescreen, FlexView SXGA+, 2Ghz Core2Duo, 512MB ram, and ATI X1400 graphics.

I plan to add another 1Gb of ram once I get the laptop.

    Order Date: June 30 10pm
    Est Ship Date: July 14

Also, why are similarly configured T60s more expensive than the T61s?

Yea, people usually get more scared combing forums than if they hadn't. I wonder why.....

Well, the T60 isn't a first generation product. Plus SkiBunny said they were seeing a "LOT" (direct quote) of T61 assembly problems.

I agree that there will be more negative reports on forums than positive ones. But this time, there *might* be something behind that...

Yeah, it's always a bit of a crapshoot ordering online, especially with a new model. After reading some of the negative posts I was really nervous opening the box of my first T61. (I ordered three and haven't opened the other two yet.)

Wow, did I luck out! Screen (LG) is far superior to what I had on my T42, plenty bright and, in my case, hardly any leakage. Build quality is better than my T42. No flex anywhere, even in the right palm rest (don't have the fingerprint reader). No crackle-pop in the bezel around the panel either. It runs XP like a Swiss watch (no Vista for me yet). Hope I have the same luck when I open the other ones.

Good choice. t61's on its way back for one. Should have done it like you the first time around. I can live with the size.

Yes, I ordered from lenovo.com. I just checked, and the 15" 4:3 flexview is still available on the U.S site. What country are you trying to order from?

I'm living in Belgium, unfortunately thinkpads are very expensive here and we can't buy directly from Lenovo. Some flexview models are listed but they are not available in any belgian stores!

I think i'll buy it from an U.S. shop, checked on euclidcomputers.com but they don't seem to sell flexview with core 2.

    Thanks however!

If I were you, I would get 2x1 GB ram. 1.5 is not that much..

I have a T61 and with a simple new install the BSOD's are over...
