After month of saving and searching, I just ordered my first Thinkpad! It's a T61p 6460DVU. I ordered it at shopblt.com since 1) Penryn is not yet available in Europe 2) ordering in the USA saves me about 1300$! No joking, Thinkpad prices are crazy in Europe!

I was just too excited, and I wanted you guys to know that soon I will join the family :D

You did good! I really love the Thinkpad. I have a T60! I got my first in Oct-07. I had used Corp-Work ones. I have always had an attraction to this machine. So I had to have a personal one.

Congrats and Enjoy! You really saved $1300 US dollars by in the US of A!

    hi guys,

i am also visiting usa and just bought one too...i also saved half the money (in europe it is about 2200 eur, i paid 1800 usd, but because the fastest delivery method, since i am returning very soon)

How is your experience with it? is it quiet? the battery ok? how about the display backlight - bright enough? how do you connect it to TV since it has no s-video - which is the only thing i hated about the configuration?

Well for me my ThinkPad is awesome solid as a rock and the keyboard is heaven.

    Mine is dead quiet.

I can get 3+hrs of battery with screen brightness 100%

The screen is plenty bright and the WSXGA+ TFT is the perfect resolution

I can hook it up to my LCD TV via the VGA connection

T61p has a VGA if you have a digital TV, or, I'm told, you need to purchase a VGA converter to convert the signal to whatever inputs are available on your TV

How about warranty? Or english keyboard layout? Or american power supply?
I live in Europe too and it would be great to import, but too unsure about warranty.

hi, thanks for answers and for bringing up another question - docking station:

i havent found any thinkpad docking station, that would have any additional types of connections, such as s-video or hdmi - have i missed any or they just make docks with no additional connection possibilities?
