Nearly 2 months waiting for a computer is rediculous.

Looks like I'll be cancelling my order with Lenovo and looking for something else ...

But what ??? dammit ... this sucks.

I'm really sorry to hear that.

If you want it asap perhaps you can go for one of their "Buy Today, Ship Today" models? Ofcourse, you won't get the exact config (or even close) to what you desire.

that's quite rediculous. When you call, did you ask to speak to a supervisor? Would you not be entitled for some compensation?

I can understantd man. When I talked tough one day the reply from a representative was, "Why don't you go buy from some other manufacturer, if you can't wait?"

But I believe, You can at least get your price adjusted to the current prices that are being offered right now (at least 200 bucks less than what you got)

Copied from my post on the "Waiting on your laptop?" thread. Uniquestco, my config is almost identical to yours, ordered on 11/08....

<<Late yesterday I called and got a rep who seemed to honestly care and he cc'd me on a message to someone from order fullfillment (or something like that ) yesterday. Never heard back. So, I called this morning and got told it'd ship in 2-3 days. Called again at the end of the day just to see if I'd get the same story and was told it looked like 12/26. The latest rep attributed the delay to the RAM and the shell. I guess they just spin the wheel of poor customer service and tell you whatever you want. I asked for a price adjustment or some other compensation and was told he could only file a formal complaint on my behalf and that a supervisor would contact me by phone/e-mail. By the time this **** thing comes, they may as well pre-load Vista since it'll be launched by then.

Can't wait to see what this supervisor has to say. I get the feeling they're all just running interference until they get their act together and all the backorders worked out. At which point they assume everyone will be so enamored with their machines that people will forget the problems they had getting them. And the sad thing is that's pretty much what will most likey happen. Argh.>>>

I ordered my z61t on 10/30. It was supposed to arrive 11/24 but on 11/25 I got an email saying that it would not be coming until 12/26. After three days of phone tag I finally said the magic words "I want to place a complaint". They put my name on a list and gave me the number of a complaints manager (or something like that). They were able to tell me what the problem was (constraint on the shell) and said that they would bump me up to the head of the line... Also got free shipping (2 day). My new ship date is 12/12, but I'll believe that when I get the UPS tracking id.

I feel your pain, but still hope I get mine first ;-)

There hasn't been much talk about a retraint on the shell. Most talk of the RAM delays. Great...two things working against up now.

I ordered two 1GB sticks. Asked about it after reading here about the shortages, but the manager said it was just the shell I was waiting on. I don't know how they configure these, but it is possible that I got my ram in my first month long wait, and it's sitting somewhere waiting for the shell.

Don't get too excited. You were already at the front of the line. They build them in the order they're recieved (and can build, based on availability). That was just to placate you in that instance.

Also, I was able to get overnight shipping, but like I explained to them: "Overnight shipping means nothing when it's delayed 2 months)."

Anyway, I've heard shell and memory. Last I heard it was memory.

    (See the other thread).

Heh, the last think I would describe myself as would be excited... Subdued rage would be closer. I haven't canceled my order only because I haven't found a suitable replacement.

The delays are bad, but what is worse is the confusion and lack of information. If they don't have the parts, they don't have the parts, but just TELL ME THAT so I can plan accordingly. The first time I got anything close to a provisionally strait answer was the 'complaint manager', and to be honest at that point it's to late...

    Uniquestco,

How did you order your system? I mean what site?

The 9440AMU Z61T is $1439.20 (before tax) on the Lenovo Student Site. It says $1799 is the actual web price. Is that what you paid?

If I were you I would see if it can be had for cheaper now (a month after you ordered) and get Lenovo to adjust your price. Either use the student discount or see if the same config through the holiday sale or CTO will get you a better price.

I ordered my z61t on 11/8 via a phone rep after configuring it myself online. The original ship date was supposed to be 12/4.

Around Thanksgiving, I used the student site link I found on notebookreview to build an identical machine for about $250 less. My rep guaranteed price protection for the new quote.

On Monday, my ship date was changed to 1/4/07. When I talked to my rep, he attributed the problem to the shells. I politely told him that if in fact I wouldn't get the machine until January that I would have to cancel the order.

In response he escalated the case and I got assigned to a Customer Relations rep, who called me yesterday and said that the build date would be 12/22 and I might have the machine by 12/27. I was placed on the "executive" list and offered a credit. I said I'd think about it.

She called back today and said the new estimated build date would be 12/26 and I would likely not have the machine until first week of January. In exchange for not canceling my order she agreed to a $300 credit.

It's killing me not to have the machine this month at all, but I'm having a hard time getting upset about the fact that I'll get the config I wanted for almost $600 less than what I was prepared to pay in November.

And Lenovo has been so responsive that I'm now thinking of other goodies they can throw in when/if there are more delays...

I ordered my T60 on 11/15 and received it today (supposed to be shipped on 11/30 from HK). I agree with others that the shell is the cause of the delay.

Which shell is delayed currently? Are we talking T series, Z series, or both? Ti cover?

zephyrus54 - > Are you just speculating about a new Z series? Of course there's one in the works, as I'd expect any company to always be planning, but are we looking at a release in the near future?

Z series Shell is the delay we're referencing.
