I need a new T400. Should I wait for Win7 GA so that new laptop comes with Win7 installed with all the drivers etc.

Are there new model coming in T400 series?

    Thanks for your advice!

Yes, there will be a new model (T410) sometime early next year when the new Intel processors come out for laptops. Whether you want to wait for that and/or Windows 7 is up to you, and whether you want/need the laptop now, or can wait a bit longer. I don't mind doing an upgrade, and it's nice to get an extra copy/key to Windows, even if it's for a more frustrating version.

If you can wait then wait. It will save you time and headaches if the OS is already installed and all the drivers are up and running perfectly from Lenovo.

Can't say most people. Some people do and some don't. Depends if you think it is worth it. People who do it feel that they can eliminate the "bloatware" on the machine by forgoing the trial software and Thinkvantage apps and want to run less processes on their system to keep the machine faster. But if you actually use a lot of those apps then it isn't bloatware to you. I did a clean install on my T61p but didn't on my X200. I didn't get too many apps that I felt were bloatware on either machine. My main decision factor was how much time I wanted to spend configuring it. I didn't want to spend too much config time on my X200. My X200 is humming along, so I have no immediate plans on doing a clean install right now. Maybe later.

But for a user that doesn't want to do a clean install, then having everything(i.e. drivers) set is very important. I guess it depends on your skill level too....
