    Hey guys

    If I plunk down the 45 bux for Windows XP CDs ... do they come with or without the bloat ??

    I have an X200.

    If they come sans bloat, they're worth every penny IMO :)

    But if they aren't ... grrr :mad:

    Thanks!!

    Not with the recovery disks. You need to install off an actual Windows CD to get a clean installation.

    i had to call microsoft to get downgrade rights. don't mess around with installing xp with the vista key, it won't work. i used an xp sp2 cd to install,. you will have to use an xp cd, and call microsoft to get downgrade rights.

    the xp recovery cds will install, but with bloat.

    it is actually a challenge to get everything installed and working on a clean install with these lenovos, you might want to use the restore cds and uninstall whatever you don't use.

    lol... talk about the pot calling the kettle black. hehe. i prefer a clean install too. this webpage will be of help to you if you do a clean install- the X200 driver matrix;

    hey. number will show up in the activatoin wizard when you install xp. check this out;

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307890

    you will need a windows xp disk for a clean install. i used the xp pro disk that i had laying around. they are not that difficult to find, since a key is needed to install it anyway, the disk itself it not really that valuable... also check this out;

    vista business and ultimate are the only ones that allow rollback to xp.
