the promotion that I'm using allows for no returns! Do you think this will be an issue, considering the recent complaints about T61 quality control issues? I figure that if my notebook arrived defective, I could just use their warranty (3 years) to fix the issue.
Also, I'm ordering from Canada, and I was wondering what the track record is for "faulty" T61s ordered from here. From what I understand, the T61s are probably all prebuilt and sitting in a warehouse somewhere in Canada already, therefore, they might not suffer from the issues that the built-on-demand T61s are suffering from. The reason why I believe they are prebuilt is because there are no customization options on the Canadian Lenovo website (there are only certain models/specifications available).
Finally - when I do get my T61, what sort of issues should I be looking for as soon as I take it out of the box? If my unit is defective in any way, I want to send it in to be repaired right away so that I can hope to get it back before September.

If it's broken/defective, it's a warranty claim and you don't need to return it.
Return generally is the "I don't like this and don't want to keep it" deal. If you got it and really disliked it, there's always eBay and the Buy/Sell forum here.
NewEgg, for example, doesn't allow any laptops to be returned. You can exchange if something is defective, but that's it. I wouldn't worry about the "no returns" policy unless you're very worried that you won't like it. -
^Agreed. As long as you can exchange/get it repaired it if it is defective, go ahead and buy it.

Alright, I placed the order for the 766416U + 1GB extra ram for $1470 Canadian through Visaperks.
The Lenovo sales rep told me that it will take about 3-4 weeks to ship and that they won't charge my credit card until it does. He said that I could cancel the order without penalty before it ships (in case it takes too long and I want to cancel it).
I hope it arrives quickly!
Ordering a T61 today, but..
