I am looking at getting a laptop for the first time. After looking around I have decided on the T61 14" WS. If I was to order one off eBay would that be a problem then ordering direct? Wouldn't be not getting something or whatever else then if I would have ordered it direct? The ones I am looking at come with a 3 year warranty also which I want. And the sellers have good feedback. So is there any real disadvantage to ordering over eBay if the laptop is still in the original package? Only thing I am thinking is if the laptop doesn't work then I am screwed, but I guess thats what the warranty is for.

Pay with a credit card. It will offer you more recourse should a problem arise. Ask for the serial number so you can look up the warranty before bidding. Give it a thorough going over once you get to make sure it's what you paid for. A lot of eBay sellers pawn off refurbed as new. They come with a short Lenovo warranty followed by a longer one with another company which is not the same thing. Make sure to read the description carefully.

With Lenovo, the warrenty starts when a laptop is SHIPPED. Unless it is being shipped to an authorized resellers. Ebay sellers are not authorized and you therefor run the risk or ordering a laptop that has a warranty that might be a month or two old (or more!). A good idea would be to contact the ebay seller from whom you wish to purchase and ask the for the serial/part numbers of the laptop you are interested in. Plug them into http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s...mplate=/warranty/warranty.vm&sitestyle=lenovo and you will be able to look up exact warranty info. Any trustworthy seller should not have a problem giving you that information.
