Something dawned on me recently. We spend all this money on portable laptops -- so we can move from one indoor room to the next indoor room. We're trapped inside. Why?

Laptops have portable battery life and portable weight. Why aren't we outside all day? ****ty reflective screens.

I have been trying to research the best Thinkpads for outdoor use but every single screen seems like this mixed lottery bag. The P51 (WQHD matte) Thinkpad T470s (WQHD matte) look best, while the X1 Carbon blows them both away in contrast, but falters in brightness.

Does anyone have any real-world experiences with using their Thinkpads in the sun? What are the real variables? I think a primary one will be battery life, to maximize the brightness time. Other thoughts? Thanks.

Unfortunately, Lenovo has never been known for good screens (except the OLED one) but in the P51 they at least manages to finally put in a decent panel. Still no match för Dell XPS15 or Apple MBP though (in my opinion and a fact regarding brightness). Some people prefere matte panels with low brightness though.
