Any here try overclocking their thinkpad?? And how did you do it?

Most laptops cannot OC. You can try SetFSB if you wish, but remember that any damage voids warranty and you might have a giant paperweight after.

Alternatively, you can dissect the Thinkpad, put a layer of Arctic Silver 5 on top of the CPU and GPU, and it should allow you to overclock the laptop slightly. The default thermal paste is not very effective. Also, you can use Thinkpad Fan Control utility to increases the speed of the fan for more effective cooling. However, it is a lot of hassles with minimal gain, so not a lot of people pursue the idea.

Artic Silver 5 didn't used to be over the heads of the users of this community but that day has come and gone too.

Would be nice if it were possible.
T61p is a hot set up with the T9300 and FX570m GPU.
With the right OC utility (if it existed) I'd think it would be able to OC to a stable 3GHZ.
Stock speeds and lowered voltages and clocks offer more overall benefits IMO.
Build a "RIG" if you want to have fun over clocking. -
People will overclock a calculator if you let them.
I think it would be more effective to overclock the GPU than the CPU. That's what I'd rather do anyway. It's easier and would provide greater benefit while gaming.
Overclocking?
