I've read the Y570's owners thread and there was a guy overclocking the y470 with MSi afterburner. Anyone got good marks for overclocking the y570 they'd like to share?

Stock is 740/900 and I oc'ed it all the way to 905/1000 with no artifacts :D

    Stock

Intel HD Graphics 3000 Mobile video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-2410M Processor,LENOVO Base Board Product Name score: 9327 3DMarks

    OC:

Intel HD Graphics 3000 Mobile video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-2410M Processor,LENOVO Base Board Product Name score: 10426 3DMarks

This is with the OEM drivers... could probably do better with the latest beta

Looks like I underestimated the 550M as those are some great numbers. What are the temperatures like?

haha I'd like to but i've never overclocked before--not even my desktop. I might google a few tutorials though and try. I'll post back here if I get good numbers.

Yes... never did an oc run for vantage

Edit: also, I always disable Physx, which is on by default, so the score may seem lower, but it's due to the much lower score in the physx tests.

Doing one right now... cause honestly... I'm not really sure if I ran it Stock or OC'ed... lol

This run is with the new 280.26 drivers also...

    EDIT:

My other score was oc'ed... seems like the new drivers ain't as optimized for benchmarks

Finally became brave enough to venture to overclock the y570.

    Program: MSI Afterburner
    Stats: Core 900
    Shader 1800

    Avg Temp: 78

    Crysis 2 x786 resolution, vysnc
    Before OC: Gamer ~35 FPS
    Hardcore ~19

    After OC: Gamer ~40
    Hardcore ~21

Not bad but also not good. I'm a total noob at this overclocking stuff so perhaps there's more I can do to up my FPS? 900 was the highest I could go without artifacts.

Oh well, thanks for the idea Luis. It was fun.

a 15% increase in Famerate just from overclocking isn't bad at all!

haha is that so? Great. I'm pleased then.

However, on a few runs in BF2 my high temp was 95 and stayed above 89. Suggestions on better cooling besides buying a pad? I tried using the super cool fan setting but no significant changes.

My method of adjusting msi, playing, then having to drop the slider down in increments is getting pretty repetitive too :(

BTW guys.... did u use OCCT GPU test with errorcheck on ? I can't breach past 88x/176x and 162x ( the x stands for last mhz) without gettint errors in errorcheck mode. I mean my 900 and 1680 on mem can run 3dmark just fine, but then again, 3d mark doesnt catch errors that your gpu produce when OC is unstable.
Also : is there anyway to increase voltage on the gpu without hardmodding?

Turns out my thermal worries were misguided. My temperature peaks at 95 only if I'm playing with the laptop on my lap in bed. When I have the laptop on my desk with a fan cooler my temperature is a steady 78. The cooler has a negligible effect because its so cheap, but it does raise the laptop to increase ventilation.

Final OC with no artifacts is 850/1714.

Kriant, I'm new to OCing so this is the first i've heard of OCCT GPU test. Give me a link to download and a quick tutorial and i'll post my results back .

77 here at 879/1758/1802. But CnC or Sacred will push the card up to 80 during gameplay

^Using the same specs I run a temp of around ~60. During game play my temps are usually at a steady ~85.

    Core clock/Shader clock/Memory clock

    Core and shader are linked.

Thanks a bunch Luis! Also, I plan on getting a Notepal U3 for keeping my laptop cool. Would that keep the Y570 cool even if it's overclocked to those configurations?

EDIT: Also, do I overclock to those speeds in one go? Or should I do it in increments to reach those speeds? Also, what is your fan speed at? Thanks

I don't use a cooling pad with my Y470, so can't help you there

Your max Overclock depends on luck of the draw... my 550m is stable @ 900mhz core... but not everyone can reach that speed... best way is to go in increments of 10mhz until you get artifacts, then back down every 5mhz after encountering them until it's stable with OCCT GPU.

hey, all. I just picked up a Lenovo y570 this week. I was a little disapointed to find out that there are a few different GeForce GT 555M graphics cards in different laptops, and the Lenovo has the slowest of them all. I wanted to see about overclocking it, and I'm not new to overclocking desktop systems, so I thought I'd see what I could get out of it. I downloaded MSI Afterburner and installed it. But when I try to overclock it and hit apply it goes back to stock levels. I can't get the overclock to stick.
Also, I was wondering if anyone has ever tried flashing the BIOS with another GPU 555M BIOS. Maybe flashing it would unlock the other cores and stuff that's available in other GT 555M models?

EDIT: I tried installing NiBiTor to see if I can tweak the BIOS at least. It doesn't even see my graphics card. Does anyone know if NiBiTor works with Optimus notebooks?

Well I decided to try my hand at overclocking and got 900/1800/1750 no problems. GPU maxxed out at 73 and CPU hit 86C. Not bad and all this while playing a long game of BF3. I tried Memory at 1800, but started artifacting. I'll probably leave it at this for now.

    Heres a video:
