    hey,

i was just wondering if anyone has tried to play any games on their thinkpad? my T400 was customized with the ATi 256 MB discrete graphics card, so i'm hoping to get some games installed and be able to play soon.

anyone here played age of empires III on the T400 yet? how does it look and play? also, does anyone know the system requirements for starcraft II are going to be? i've tried to find out but without much success.

I've been playing America's Army with pretty good results (~50fps average, down to 30 in intense action scenes), but I haven't tried anything else. I do recall someone on this board mentioning that the T400's ATI card should be sufficient for Starcraft 2, but I don't know how reliable that is.

thanks for the info. it seems the tests on the aforementioned thread were done with 128 MB video card, whereas the ATi card on the T400 is 256 MB. just wondering if that would improve performance?

It would not hurt it. Does the 256mb version have more bandwidth? I would imagine a performance increase when the additional bw and memory could be utilized.

i'm not sure about the bandwidth. i'm just aware of the memory difference. with respect to the video card on the T400, where does it fall on the spectrum of video cards? is it considered to be a very basic video card? moderate? or able to handle more advanced gaming?

Age of Empires 3 (Most settings maxed except AA @ 1280x800)
    Intel X4500
    ~10-12FPS
    ATI HD3470
    ~19-23FPS

That is what I get when just starting (8 players). Of course if I drop the settings I can get higher FPS, but I dun really need high FPS for a RTS. In addition, Catalyst settings are set to balanced instead of performance.
