Hi, :) My friend has a ThinkPad x300 laptop about a year old and he just noticed it only turns on when it is not plugged in.
It charges up fine it runs fine with or without it being plugged in.
But it will not turn on unless the power plug is NOT plugged in.(running only on the battery)
Why does this happen and is there a way to change the behavior?
    Thank you

    Is the computer in warranty?

did any sort of spill or accident happened recently??? Can you confirm that you are getting a voltage through the power adapter? If you do have warranty, then it is time to exercise them.

The PC's warranty just ended in August.

Yes, he did spill some coffee next to the laptop a week ago.

I am saying whether you spilled any liquid on the laptop.

"Yes, he did spill some coffee next to the laptop a week ago."

There you go and it's out of warranty. Fortunately, there's only a power supply problem. You definitely need to inspect the machine on the inside.

I wouldn't recommend running the machine at all, without warranty. That's asking for trouble and leaves you wide open to the caprices of fortune.
