Have had my husband's T61 for about 3 weeks now. When I checked online, it says I only have a 1-year warranty, although I purchased 3. When I called Lenovo, after being shunted around a bit, I was told that I needed to *register* the extended warranty (not the machine; the extended warranty is separate) before it will show up. She said that somewhere in the paperwork or .pdf files Lenovo sent is a PIN number and a site where I'm supposed to register it. I don't see any such notation anywhere; all looks like nonpersonalized legal forms to me. Does anyone have any idea where this is? The Lenovo person said she could not register this for me even though she can see on my invoice the 3 year purchase.

You didn't happen to toss out anything that came with the box originally right? If not you should be fine, just look harder I guess. Sorry, but I did not need to do this when I received my laptop. Maybe it is a new thing? Hope I could have been more help...

The only paperwork that came with the box was a packing list and acquisition agreement; no PIN on that. I'm a little ticked with Lenovo right now and am wishing I had checked up on this earlier. Am really hoping someone else who bought an extended warranty with a new laptop recently would pipe in. It's always possible that the lady doesn't know what she's talking about and I need to wait on hold yet again for someone who does.

Perosnally, I would just keep a record of you credit card bill and your reciept that lists everything you bought. This way if you ever need something repaired and it's not right in their computers they can't dispute you. I had to call tech support the other day and they told me that I only had a 1 year warranty. He looked farther into the system and saw the 3 year warranty but he didn't know why it didn't transfer over. As long as you have proof I wouldn't worry.

I printed out a couple of copies of my invoice so as to have it handy whenever, but no doubt if the time came that I *did* have to take advantage of the extended warranty, without being in the system I don't like the idea of having the hassle of burden of proof to be on me. I was charged for something so I'd like it to show up. Guess if no one can enlighten me about this PIN number thing, I may well try calling Lenovo again in a day or two.
