Hi I was wondering if anyone could please help me

I need to know how I can disable or mute the internal microphone on a R61i.

I have gone through sounds in the control panel and every thing, I have disabled the mic, yet it still is on. The only way I can mute it, is if I mute the main speakers.
I need to know because I cant use my speakers as it is interfearing with a loud ear pirecing noise.
Any help would be great thanks.

Which method did you use to disable it?

    Control Panel
    Sound Icon
Then went to the tab "Recording"
Right clicked "Microphone Conexant High Definition Audio
    Then clicked disable

There is also another one in that list called "Wave out mix"
I also did the same method above with that.

I did the above, but when I take my main speakers off mute the mic is still on and I get this loud ear piercing noise. The only way to stop it is to mute the main speakers.
I have no idea why you cant mute just the mic.

LOL after much trouble I found the problem.

    Control Panel
    Sound Icon
    Playback Tab
    Speaker Properties
    Level tab
And hey presto a button to mute the mic

I wish Vista had all these settings in the Volume mixer like in XP!!!!!!
