I have read about all the various issues some have and some don't with the intel mini-pci card, and the much better support with the atheros cards. Is it possible to pop one of the atheros ones in the ibm laptops? Will it work in some laptops, but not others? Anyone have a compatibility list to go off of?

I did it in a T41. The wireless card was a mini-PCI card. Then ran the software installer to update the drivers.

How much effort did it take and how long ? I've had a replacement card for my T-41 sitting around for a while now . . . and haven't actually motivated enough to make the replacement.

    Tell me its easy, please.

Looking over the instructions it looks quite easy. you just need to remove a few things to get to it.

It was a year ago, so I don't remember exactly. You can look up the instructions on the web site, and they send instructions with the card. I think it went under the keyboard, which just requires removing from screws from the bttom.
