I've got a packed T520 on order. But I've read that that WS-520 has "lots of features" that the t520 does not. I seek a workhorse multiprocessor. What features does the WS have that the T does not have?

You might want to have a look at the fine specs on www.lenovo.com

The T520 supports SB quad-core i7 processors that are just as powerful as those of the W520, if you order it with quad-core. The only things "missing" from the T520 are USB 3.0, the Pantone color calibrator, and higher-power GPU options, but the latter doesn't sound like something you need.

No, it doesn't. I'm considering that I made the correct purchase. :)

You go through a lot of stress in making a purchase these days.

I didn't research it extensively(go check the PSREF for that), but I did a quickie check via the lenovo.com configurator, and the T520 doesn't go up the quad core chip list as far as the W520 nor does it support near as much memory.

Appears the T520 might be thought of as 'W520 lite'.

T520 has half the memory capability of the W520 and no USB 3.0, which alone was enough to move me to the W model particulary given that the size and wt were the same and the cost as well.

Yes, I did forget that point--the W520 does have 4 RAM slots while the T520 has the standard 2, so the W520 supports up to 32GB of RAM whereas the T520 supports up to 16GB. Feasibly, they are limited to 16GB and 8GB, respectively, as 4GB DDR3 modules are so far the only affordable ones.

CPU-wise, they are the same. See the screenshots:

Just to make it clear, only the quad core version support up to 32GB of RAM and have 4 slot of RAM.

For those who plan to travel with the W520, the power adopter is the size of an brick.

Hmmm, Lenovo at it again. When I went through the configurator, it showed different results. T model wouldn't go as high on chip and for memory it maxed out at 8G, even for a quad core.

That was through Lenovo.com, the retail website.

Oh well, point is the W520 is more powerful...

You'll have to define "powerful". Does it have as much CPU ? Does it have as many CPUs. I don't expect to take a lot of memory so does your definition include > 8 GB?
