Hi All,
Is it possible to replace a palmrest without a touchpad to a palmrest with touchpad?
I have R61e without a touchpad (Only Trackpoint )
I was thinking if it is possible to install palmrest with Touchpad (from R61/some other model) on R61e.
Thanks

No the touchpad isn't built in to the palm rest. Its a separate piece of hardware. I hope you knew the R61e didn't have a touchpad

? The hardware manual shows the touchpad built in to the palm rest. So do the palm rest removal and replacement videos. They are a single FRU. Watch the video, then check that you have that touch pad connector on your motherboard. If you do, the odds are this 'upgrade' will work, but no guarantees...

Hmm...you know I never knew that
edit: well know I realize I guess I was trying to say that the touchpad needed to somehow be connected to the computer because it won't just work if you install it with the palmrest... -
the touchpad is seperate as far as hardware goes, but for every laptop ive ever replaced one on it is always part of the palm rest. the connector from the touchpad us usually seperate from whatever else you have built in to the palmrest. it would be a huge pain the in the *** to replace a touchpad without the palmrest plastic. banana hit the nail on the head. make sure you have the connector first.
