    Greetings:

Are any of you using Parallels Workstation or VMWare Workstation on your ThinkPad?

If so, which? Why did you pick the one you use?

Have you tried both? Which one do you favor and why?

Are you running it on Windows XP or Vista as the host?

    Thank you.

    Hi dynamicnet

Just to throw a spanner into the works, I use Virtual Box, an open source virtualisation program that is far and away better than either of the two you have mentioned.
I have used Parallels and was a beta tester for Vmware Workstation 6.0 but find the latest incarnation of Virtual Box 2.0.2 a better deal than both of those you are talking about. PLUS, its free to download and use.

I think Virtual Box should be included in your survey.

What about Microsoft's VM solution, Virtual PC? That's what I use, mostly because I'm using old images that were originally created in the 2004 version.

Never heard of this VirtualBox, though. May have to check it out. I was going to eventually update to VMWare.

Planning on running Windows Server 2008 on my new T500, either Hyper-V or Virtual PC 2007. MS Virtual Server R2 also works on W2008.

Virtual PC and Virtual Server all work on Vista/XP and both are free.
