My god. I looked up my system on order and in transit using the part number and serial number and it says on the warranty site that I have a one year warranty but I ordered a longer one. I ordered Vista Ultimate but it says I have a Premium sticker. 14 inch screen but I see not note of WXGA+. What is happening? Sick to my stomach right now. IS this normal?

It is not unheard of for the warranty lookup to be wrong.

Are you happy with that? IF you bought Mercedes and they put a Chrysler emblem on it do you feel short changed? I feel like crying. IF they cannot get this right I will be sad.

eh...it's just a sticker and doesn't bother me. Not only that, but I also have an 'Intel Centrino Duo' sticker that came with my NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M equipped lappy - go figure.

I kind of like the oddity and is the only reason I don't peel them off - there had to be someone who knew it wasn't right, but they put the stickers on anyway just because it was on the BOM. No one bothered to tell their boss or ask why.

Anyway, the analogy is more like getting a Mercedes without an AMG tag - it's still a Mercedes and you know what's under the hood.

Look on the bright side, you'll know who your friends are if they chastise you because of the stickers on your laptop.

My X61t has a Vista Basic sticker on it, but it shipped with Business... I don't care, I'm going to pull the stickers off anyway... very soon :)

Are you sure you typed the right part number? It is possible for 2 machines, with different part numbers, to have the same serial number.

I think your logic is reversed. Serial nubmers are unique.

Unique to part numbers. You don't have to believe me, but this is personal experience.

Might be the case for Lenovo but would venture to say for others, any products, it is not normal. I beleive you if it is specific to Lenovo. Chinese logic?

Yes this is what I have found with lenovo. I was doing a parts lookup one day, or maybe it was a warranty lookup actually. I hit in my serial number and accidentally hit in the part number as 8991, my part number is actually 8891. The warranty info came up for a laptop in new zealend with a 2 year old warrenty lol. I was like WHAT?! Then I realized I hit in the wrong part number. I hope it works out for you BaldwinHills. I have my fingers crossed that maybe it was a system glitch or something.. let us know what unfolds.

For an IT company, Lenovo has lousy internal IT systems. Idential serial numbers? I beleive your story but it is really sad that they cant come out of the stone age.

I'm no expert, but I was told by Lenovo customer service, that extended warranty info doesn't show up on the website, until 2-3 weeks after shipping date (only 1y factory warranty shows initially). Also, the serial # & part number may just say 14" screen, with no further specifics as to resolution. But then take the FRU # and look that up on Google, or the screen manufacturers site, for full details. Good luck.

My parts and warranty info showed up on the web site about 24hours after my machine shipped.

If you're worried about the sticker, you probably will get what's on the BoM. Mine said Vista Basic sticker, and I have a Vista Basic sticker. The machine (my X61t) was ordered with and shipped with Vista Business. I'm peeling the stickers off soon enough, so I won't be calling and asking for a Business sticker.
