Do you want to set a password for the BIOS or for Windows?

For Windows, you have to go into Control Panel and then to User Accounts or something similar for Vista.

To enter BIOS, you have to press F1 when you see the ThinkPad Logo the moment you press the power button. The settings are under Security. You can also find your BIOS version here also.
