My T61 came with this corner sticker with Thinkvantage benfits and stuff on the sticker.. can I safely pull this off without it leaving a horrible adhesive mess that won't come off without ruining the plastic?

Stickers only last so long before the ylook tatty.

Yes, you can. I was able to simply peel the sticker off with my fingers and without and liquids, but I took it very slowly. You should be okay with simply pulling it off, but if you're really worried, you could try using other means...

    Good luck!

Thanks, gonna pull it off just now, slowly.. like panties.. erm..maybe I love my T61 too much? :)

I mainly want to remove the sticker so that the top panel ages evenly, and stickers suck.

thats strange, i dont recall mine having some type of sticker on the lid. Did you purchase yours directly from lenovo or through a reseller? I like ripping panties off with my teeth :D

I purchased it from a Lenovo/IBM distributor in my country, it's a pre configured system, not a custom built one, so that might explain it.

You could always use a heat gun, hair dryer....just be careful not to get to close.

if the laptop is new, there is no point in using a heat gun. Its much easier peeling the sticker off and then rubbing all the left over goop with some googone. With a heat gun the left over goop is even harder to take off

If used properly, and assuming your removing quality stickers (foil, plastic) verses the cheap paper type, you should have very little glue left behind. Thats the purpose of the heat, to lift the glue with the sticker. I fhe sticker comes up leaving the glue you press the sticker back down until the glue comes with it.

Goo gone on the matte finish? No permanant stain?

    just my $.02

Yes, but I think the Vista sticker slows the phone down to a grinding halt! :D

Someone a few days ago in another thread said to use some scotch tape to dab/pull off the residue. I decided to give it a try, but I had some clear packing tape (a little more sticky/heavy duty). I stuck it on once and pulled it off. Residue gone!! Nice tip. Thanks to whoever gave me that tip!!!

Speaking of tip. Has anyone ever played that game? "Just the tip". You know just to try it out. Just for a second, just to see how it feels... since we are talking about panties. Just sayin'
