Crucial.com lists both DDR2 PC2-5300 & DDR2 PC2-6400 as compatable memory for the Lenovo T61 .( the T61 comes with DDR2 PC2-5300 ) Will the T61 actually operate and make use of the higer memory speed of DDR2 PC2-6400 or is it merely backwards compatable with the T61 and actually run at the slower original stock speed ?

It will only run the RAM at 667 MHz. You should look for some CAS 4 DDR2 667 RAM at Newegg.com

It will downclock to 667MHz, so no sense buying the higher frequency ram....unless your're into overclocking.

Check out any RAM on this page
