Hmm... doesn't look as noticeable as the 14.1.

Did you buy the WSXGA+ screen or WXGA?

The 15" seems to have the speakers on the top of the keyboard like older thinkpads while the 14" has the speakers on the sides of the keyboard. I wonder why Lenovo decided to make the two different.

I think they use the thinkpad logo instead of the IBM logo when the computers are ordered in bulk by a business. For single order and such the old IBM logo will be used. I think I read that on lenovoblogs.

    Thanks for the pics.

Which formats does the media card reader on the front accept?
    SD/MMC, MemeStick Duo, etc.

Also, when you close the screen does it cover the mem card reader slot, or is the slot always exposed?

Correct. When bought through business buying channels the thinkpads come with the new thinkpad logo. When bought normally as a consumer in the USA you get the IBM Retro logo.

I say in the USA as some other areas of the world will get the new thinkpad logo even if you are a consumer. It depends on what area you are in though.

How do you check the LCD Manufacturer?

Just got my T61. My 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD DISPLAY FRU is 42T0417. I did not get this Part no on the IBM Website. Could someone please tell me which LCD screen is this.

I used a software called PC Wizard 2007. It's a free DL. According to it, my screen is a LG/Phillip panel. My panel has the same FRU# as you.

Thanks very much. I am relieved. Seems like I got a Chicony keyboard, but the screen is LG/Philips(NOT Samsung). That's one bad out of 2. I can live with that.

I dont mind the chicony keyboard. Have used it on the T60.

About samsung, strange thing is that in south korea, Samsung is definitely more prestigious and usually costlier than LG (both companies are korean)

Good pics. What about the viewing angles? Pic 1072 looks kinda washed-out compared to 1092

I actually have no idea. I've looked on the Lenovo website and used PC Wizard but neither tells me any specifics in terms of brand. I think it's LG though because I haven't had any screen problems :)

It's definitely noticable but it's by no means as extreme as that picture.

With PC Wizard, did it give you the panel model- something like LPxxxxxx?

If it starts with LP, then it's a LG/Phillips panel.

Both keyboard and screen can be looked up by finding the FRU:

Thinkpad logo is used for enterprise customers in developed market, such as US/Canada. Traditional IBM logo is used for home and small office consumers and enterprise customers in developing market, such as Latin America. Surprisingly, IBM logo is also used in China, where Lenovo is the biggest local computer manufacturer.
